An unintentional seafood review

Klein's Fshmarket

Klein’s FishMarket, Waterside Cafe, Grill Room, & Sushi Bar: I had not originally intended on going to this place. I had attempted to visit Haven’s and Hamptons, which I was told had fantastic seafood. Unfortunately, the owner had passed recently so the restaurant closed up shop. So I made my way across the street to Klein’s. For starters, the name is a mouthful. It’s not actually a name, but more of a run down on what they can provide you. Klein’s sits right on the water front. It even has a dock so that people can actually drive up with their boats to dine. I thought that was quite lovely. As for the food, I thought it was ok. They have the usual items of food: crab, lobster, shrimp, steak, and everything you’d expect in a seafood restaurant in a shore town. I had the crab cakes which, I thought, were decent. They were, however, grossly over priced, considering they were the most expensive thing on the menu. I still stand by the notion that if you want great crab cakes, you go north to New England.  I was, however, quite impressed with their New England Style Clam Chowder. Though I was mistakenly served Manhattan Style (which was also quite good, but I’m not a fan of Manhattan style), I did have a chance to try the New England which was quite good, though exceedingly thick. With clam chowder it is always better to be too thick rather then too watery. However, the chowder had a consistency closer to mashed potatoes. This gave me a great idea: New England clam chowder style mashed potatoes. Think about it, it is pure genius. I’ll be a millionaire. All in all, it was a decent place, but I wasn’t impressed. A better spot for brunch than dinner.
