Florida’s Best Kept (sandwich shop) Secret
The Salty Dog: A small lunch-only sandwich shop a quick two blocks from the beach in Flagler Beach, Fl. I happened to eat there while vacationing with some family in Palm Coast, who go there once a week. The Salty Dog is as small as can be with outside seating of about four patio tables and no inside seating (it gets hot in the summer). It’s a two person operation, with the food made when ordered and the ingredients always fresh. The portions were huge and the prices were excellent for the amount of food. I happened to go with the lunch special of blackened chicken quesadillas with caramelized onions, melted cheese and smothered in sweet and tangy barbeque sauce. The meal was superb and everything was cooked perfectly. I didn’t have to deal with the burnt cheese of an over cooked quesadilla or under cooked chicken, everything was right and full of flavor. They have many traditional sandwiches that they overload with meats and veggies at a cheap price. If you’re in Flagler Beach for the day I recommend checking this place out it won’t disappoint.
