Viva La Mexico! - The Start of Mexican Week

Los Charrito’s: Hoboken New Jersey is a one square mile city that is filled with great hang outs and even better restaurants.  The Charrito’s Restaurant we visited was uptown, which, was the bigger of their two Hoboken locations.  As soon as you open the door the atmosphere hits you with a very lively energy.  The customers are enjoying great food and a great time.  It’s a very traditional Mexican set up with a nice little rock waterfall towards the back to give the place more character.  Charrito’s is a BYOB, so we decided to bring some tequila for margaritas and some red wine for sangria.  We got the margaritas frozen and, to be honest, they weren’t that great.  In order to get something other than liquid out of the pitcher you had to spoon it out which was quite annoying.  The sangria on the other hand was delicious. We skipped appetizers and went right to ordering dinner. I ordered the Charrito Fajitas.  The Charrito Fajitas are your typical fajitas with steak and chicken, huge chunks of peppers, onions and tomatoes in a delicious sauce.  All the ingredients were fresh which enhanced the taste of the meal.  As a side dish I got a plate of guacamole, sour cream, Spanish rice, and refried beans that were delicious and complimented the meal perfectly.  The portions were huge and I enjoyed the small feast thoroughly.  The service was a little lacking as we only had a drink order, dinner order, and another visit for the check. In addition, we weren’t given chips and salsa which is a usual for the place.  Overall, Charrito’s is worth it for great Mexican food at a great price where a night out on the town can follow.
