....And a Side of Jersey, Please!

I’m the king of the rumba beat.

Cuban Pete’s: I’ve been to this little place twice now and I have to say it is quite enjoyable. This restaurant was started by the original owner of Mexicali Rose, which is right up the street from here. The atmosphere is very festive. All of the waiters wear loose, short sleeve button up shirts with matching pants and fedoras to look like they are from Havana, Cuba in the 60’s. They have live music on the weekends in their outdoor dining area. What I don’t like is that the outdoor dining area does not have heaters for when it gets colder out, such as it is now.

The food is pretty good. For appetizer, I’ve tried their chicken lollipops, which are little chicken skewers which are quite good. I forget the names of the other appetizers I tried because they weren’t exactly memorable.

For dinner I had the churrasco, which is a flank steak grilled with chimichurri sauce. It was served with sweet plantains and rice and beans. It was pretty good. The meat was cooked just right. However, I couldn’t really taste the chimichurri sauce. It just tasted like a well grilled steak, which is good in its own right. They also serve different types of Sangria and Mojitos, which go excellent with the meal. This is a great place to go with friends right before a night out, as it has a very festive atmosphere.
