That’s A Good Meatball…..

Angelo’s Fairmont Tavern: When I go to Atlantic City, I usually lose money.  At Angelo’s I lost money, but this time I was at least enjoying it.  Angelo’s has the atmosphere of an authentic Italian mom and pop venture. It has been going great for the last 73 years.  The staff is friendly and helpful, giving off a great family vibe in the air. It’s a big place with a lot of seating, including bar seating that packs it in during the dinner rush.  The menu has much to offer from an extravagant amount of delicious appetizers to the homemade pasta dishes and mouth-watering entrees.  To start the meal off, we had the Spicy Cheese Raviolis.  These breaded pillows of heaven were fried until golden brown and served up with their great, homemade marinara sauce with a perfect amount of spice, making it an exquisite choice.  For dinner, I stuck with something pretty traditional:  stuffed shells with a meatball.  Yes, that’s right MEATBALL, as in just one!  At first I was in dismay, only one meatball?  What gives?  When our food came out I figured out why you only got one meatball:  It was the size of a softball!  This was by far the biggest meatball I’ve ever received in a restaurant.  The meatball was done with a crispy outside and soft middle making it delicious.  Flavored well but not overwhelmed with spices.  The pasta was made fresh and cooked perfectly, no burnt edges or hard spots.  The sauce, again, was amazing, fresh, and bursting with flavor.  I couldn’t have asked for more.  The portion size at first seemed a little small. After I began eating, it turned out it was more than enough.  The price is right on point for a premiere Italian restaurant in Atlantic City.  The place gets crowded around dinner time but is very quiet around lunch with a limited menu.  You can’t go wrong here, next time you’re in Atlantic City do yourself a favor and try this place.
